Who builds MadeWithWhat?
MadeWithWhat is built and maintained by Andrea Lunelio at Laravel42, which develops the site, the data pipeline and the editorial tooling.
The GitHub repository behind each project is always the source of truth — we read its metadata, and never clone or run the code.
How does the index work?
Discover
We search GitHub for each technology's topics and keywords: a full sweep split into star ranges to get past the 1,000-result limit per search, plus regular checks for recently active repositories. For every repository we keep its stars over time, topics, languages and licence.
Qualify
Topics are hints, not proof. A rules engine checks a repository genuinely belongs to the technology, removes cross-gallery contamination and assigns a category such as Dashboard, UI Kit or Starter.
Rank
Projects are ranked by GitHub stars. Each one records when it first entered the catalog, which drives the “newest” sort and the RSS feeds.
Publish
Catalogs are re-published on a daily refresh. Longer project summaries are generated with a language model from GitHub data, so treat them as summaries.
Where do the videos come from?
Videos are discovered through the YouTube Data API and filtered for relevance to each technology. Where captions exist, a language model turns the transcript into chapters, a summary and a readable transcription. Videos stay hosted on YouTube, credited to their original channels.
How are the articles written?
Articles are produced with AI assistance from facts collected on GitHub at generation time — stars, releases, activity — including sources, an evidence-and-limitations section and an FAQ. Drafts are checked for duplication, and news and security pieces must pass editorial review before publication.
How do I get my project listed?
Most projects are found automatically. If yours is missing, pick your stack on the submission page. Submissions are checked against the same GitHub data and qualification rules as discovered projects.
How current are the numbers?
Gallery figures come from the latest catalog refresh; article figures reflect the data when the article was generated. Follow the link to any repository for its state right now.
